Cool down Northwest Pool
We love Northwest Pool in Austin ... until about July, when the water temperature can climb to 96 degrees.
That's too hot! Nobody likes water that hot, not lap swimmers, recreational swimmers, or anyone just trying to beat the heat on a summer day.
We're talking about the Olympic-size swimming pool located in Beverly S. Sheffield Northwest District Park in Austin TX.
Fortunately, there's a simple solution: an aerator, which is a pump that has water spray nozzles attached to it. Warm water is sucked up from the pool, driven through the pump, and sprayed into the air, which cools the water down -- same principle as kids playing in the lawn sprinkler.
Just so you know, other neighborhoods have raised money for aerators. For example, here's the one from Ramsey Pool:
Two of us (myself, an Allandale resident, and the woman who built the aerators we had in years past) have a goal to purchase two larger aerators for Northwest Pool so that every summer starting in 2017, the water could be 10 degrees cooler or more.
Endorsed but not funded by the Allandale Neighborhood Association, we need you to help us to raise $2,800 to purchase the two aerators. Post-purchase, we'll donate the aerators to the City Aquatics Department for them to install, operate, and maintain.
Please donate what you can for this important project. We need to raise the money by April 10, 2017.
Aerators will make an already great pool even better!
You'll be glad you did and everyone who uses the pool will thank you.
