MAKING AN ACCESSIBLE HOME FOR CASEY

This is a long shot I know...My husband was diagnosed with ALS in 2011 at 40yrs old - His name is Casey Garrah. We are a young family with 2 children who lost e...verything except our love and passion to survive together. We fought the Government with ALS Canada for extended compassionate care benefits - and were on Global National and news papers all over Canada - we won!! Search us up online - Cathy & Casey Garrah. Unfortunately, not in time to reap the benefits ourselves as I am with him 24/7now... Casey lost his job 3 months before ALS reared it's ugly head and with that we lost everything with this diagnosis. We lost our home and moved in with my parents shortly after diagnosis as we couldn't afford to keep our home. We did some renovations not knowing what the future held - we had no guidance and were scared - we did what we thought was the right reno - we know now we messed up. Casey's "accessible" or we thought accessible shower is in the basement - he is paralysed now uses an eyegaze computer to communicate (types with his eyes), Casey had a feeding tube put in in May 2015. I have to transfer him physically 7 times just to get him downstairs into the shower and another 7 times out and back to the main floor. I have been diagnosed with degenerative disc disease and after an MRI I am possibly being diagnosed with MS within the coming months. We have had many O/T come in to try to remedy the situation for safety by recommending elevators but we just cannot afford something like that. Our only options to renovate the main floor powder/laundry room - We need help - without this Casey will have to be moved to a home - our children are devastated - Please, I am not someone who asks for help. I try to fix everything...I just can't seem to fix this. I can't lose my family. Please help
