Adopting Three Brothers!
Hi, we're Ron and Alison Ott, and we're adopting three brothers from Poland! We can't show you their faces yet, but they're adorable.
A little back story: A few years ago, I became ill with Lyme disease and Alison nearly died from sepsis. It gave us time to reflect, and we discovered we felt we'd been resigned to lives of dull mediocrity. But what if we could we live our convictions in a more substantial way? This simple idea dominated our conversations. We both sensed God guiding us to adopt a sibling group specifically from Poland. So we dove in head first, thinking it would take a long time. We were wrong.
A mere two weeks after completing our home study, we were matched with three brothers ages 4, 7, and 9! The process has since moved very quickly. We expect to travel to Poland to get them in the next few months, and we are required to live there for a span of six to eight weeks.
How much do we need?
To date, God has provided 80% of the approximate $60,000 it's going to take to adopt these boys. However, we still require just over $11,000 before we can travel!
When do you need it?
We don't have a definitive timeline yet, but we'll need the remainder of the funds in only a few short months.
Why is it so expensive?
In short, adoption is a complicated process which involves a lot of time and legal paperwork to ensure the process doesn't involve fraud and serves in the best interest of the adopted child. Prospective adoptive families must be screened, educated, and equipped for life after adoption. There are court costs, translation fees, immigration fees, passport and visa fees, in-country facilitation fees, medical evaluations, etc. Even small steps in the process can cost hundreds of dollars. International adoption also requires travel. (In our case, we are required to travel to Poland and live there for a span of six to eight weeks.)
We're so excited to add these three sons to our family, and we hope that you'll help us make this a reality! Your support will change the lives of these three boys and give them a family! You'll earn our undying gratitude in the process. Thank you so much for being a part of our adoption adventure. God bless!
