Adopt a Fam (or two or three)

Hello Friends and Family,
This year we would like to spread the holiday cheer by adopting a needy family (or two or three or even four). The families will be adopted via Salvation Army. The following is taken from their website: The Adopt-A-Family Program teams up an organization or individual with a family in need of assistance in hopes of making this Christmas season one worth remembering.
"Families chosen for the program may have recently experienced a disaster like a fire or flood, be homeless or in transitional housing, be grandparents raising grandchildren, have a child or parent with a serious illness, or have recently lost a child or parent.
Hardships don’t end when the lights are strung and the ornaments are hung. If anything, these can amplify the obstacles that these families are faced with.
Caseworkers can recommend these families to the Adopt-A-Family program with a wish list of items that could make the lives of these struggling families easier. These wish lists can include anything from warm clothes for these cold months to paying the utility bills. They may include a Christmas dinner and toys for the children. These wish lists address what seems like basic needs but aren’t accessible to these families."
So here are the logistics of this undertaking. We (Emily and Sara) will be collecting money beginning now through December 7th. You can donate through this page or via cold hard cash. We are teaming up with The Waiting Room to make this vision a reality and you can bring cash donation to the bar. Once we have an idea of how much money we have, we will maximize the giving - whether we adopt multiple families or adopt a large family.
We understand money can be tight this time of year, so feel free to donate anything - whether its $1 or an hour of your time - we are open to anything. Once we have closed fundraising we will begin to shop based on the wish lists provided by the families. Everyone is more than welcome to come along for this shopping experience!
The Waiting Room has graciously offered to host a "wrapping party" (not to be confused with a "rapping party") on Friday December 18th. We will bring all the gifts there along with wrapping paper and the works. Everyone is welcome to join and volunteer their time to help wrap all the wonderful things we are gifting to the families in need. We will post the invite here as the details are finalized. We will also be accepting gift cards or last minute donations on this date to add "bonus" gift items to our donation.
Our network of friends and family are more wonderful than words, and if everyone comes together we can help several less fortunate families have an excellent holiday season. Any questions please contact Emily and we love you all.
