Operation Adopt “Lil Owl”

My husband and I decided before we got married that we wanted to be foster parents. We waited until we were settled in a home and ready to start welcoming children into our home. We came into foster care with the heart of helping any child that needed a home and would love on them for no matter how long we had them. We are pro-reunification because we know that blood and history mean a lot! And people make mistakes, but if they can learn from them and better themselves to get their children back, then PRAISE GOD!
Our first sibling pair was reunified. And it was hard. Many tears were shed. But ultimately, we knew in the long run it was best for them.
Then we took in “lil owl”. She was only 6 days old. We took her in, not knowing if it would lead to adoption or not. We weren’t looking for a specific child to adopt. But even though they said it most likely would lead to permanency (adoption), we couldn’t let our hearts get excited.
She has now been in our home for over 15 months. We have been trying to be approved to adopt her for over a year. We keep hitting speed bumps that are being made into mountains. We have reached a point that we need to hire a personal lawyer to represent us and try and get to the bottom of this.
We have created this page to raise funds for our lawyer’s fees and other court related costs. Any money over the amount needed will be split between a college fund for our “lil owl” and donations to help other foster families create forever homes.
