Addy's Story

Born at just 29 weeks, Addison suffered a grade two brain bleed resulting in spastic diplegic cerebral palsy. Since then she has suffered from spasticity in both legs and feet affecting her gait, balance, and causing her to tire easily.
In June she will undergo a type of surgery called selective dorsal rhizotomy at the Gillette's Children Hospital in St. Paul. This surgery on her lower spinal cord will reduce the spasticity, improve functional mobility and walking, and increase her tolerance for activity.
Her expected hospital stay will be 4-6 weeks during which she will receive intensive physical therapy. Addison will be going home in a wheelchair and will have to relearn how to walk. She will continue to work hard at her physical therapy, attending outpatient services 5 times a week.
Funds raised will be used for travel expenses, medical costs of the surgery, and physical therapy. Most of this will not be covered by insurance. Anything you can give will really help their family and help ease the financial burden. Addy is the sweetest girl and full of spunk! Let's pray for her upcoming surgery and recovery and give if we can. God Bless!
