Documentary ~ A Life Threatening Silence

Donation protected

Mothers in addiction have reached epic proportion . The impact reaches far beyond the walls of their homes, though the secret of their addiction may never be known.  Too many mothers suffer in silence due to the stigma, guilt, and shame surrounding mothers in addiction.

I'm a mother that has been in recovery for over a decade.    That wasn't always the case!   The road to recovery, as a mother, was extremely scary and not easy,  but I made it.

Sadly, most do not. The stigma, shame, and difficulty in attaining recovery without fear of losing our children, are immense.   It is a huge reason that many mothers only tend to get more sick, rather than admit defeat and surrender to the recovery process.

My goal is to enlighten others about the hows and whys of mothers in both states of being (addiction and recovery) in order to change the perception and remove the stigma surrounding it.  The importance of allowing mothers to seek recovery without fear of ridicule or fear of losing their babies/children is essential for healing to begin. This film will demonstrate the importance of this fact.

I've directed a number of video productions with my husband's production company, including documentaries, and am confident this task is for me.  I have a deep passion for the subject, the equipment, the desire, the education (a Bachelor's in Psychology,) and over a decade of recovery myself while assisting others in their recovery.  The fact that I'm an adult child of an alcoholic gives me the added perspective from the child's point of view.

I'll be speaking to people considering many aspects on this important issue, including mothers in addiction, mothers in recovery, state and local officials about the impacts and future policies of mothers in addiction, mental health professionals, and most importantly, children of mothers in addiction.

I'm seeking financial support for filming equipment; travel within and near my state to gain insight in numerous cultures; for editing costs; and to promote the documentary once it's completed.  I will be submitting the film to various festivals, which also takes money to complete.

My goal is to complete filming and editing by Fall 2019. The support of others will tell me that I am not alone in the fight to have healthy mothers and children.

My passion for this subject and my mission are true.  I know that others have been affected as well.  Recovery, education, positive and healthy support and encouragement are our best defense against a future where mothers continue to drink and use because they fear the consequences of disclosure of addiction.

My gratitude of your support, in any amount you're able to give, is immense.  I am humbled by the number of people that have encouraged and pushed me to do this project so far.  My cup runneth over.  Thank you for your contribution...even if it is simply a  prayer for others that are still suffering.

Love and light to all.
