Carla Angola. Venezuelan Journalist and Project Manager .Contact: 786.663.3802 (Miami).

Miami, April 11, 2018- Venezuelans do not have access to medicines. There is no way to soften a sentence as overwhelming as that.

"It's still not my time; I do not want to die" It's the testimony of hundreds of patients begging for what it should never be implored: The right to Health and Life.

Children, mothers, and fathers totaling over 300,000 Venezuelans are at risk of dying. It's undeniable, Venezuelans are dying unnecessarily. The question is, are we going to let them die?

We can no longer look away.   This devastating situation requires for all of us to get involved and do something.

"After a telephone conversation with Francisco Valencia, the president of CODEVIDA (Coalition of Organizations for the Right to Health and Life), I confessed to him that I felt hopeless. The fact of seeing thousands of Venezuelans with a chronic health condition and not being able to do anything about it, it's so bleak. This particular case of a little girl who’s at risk of losing her organ transplant wasvery devastating to me. To see her being so conscious of facing death so close, prevented me from standing by idly”, said Carla Angola, Venezuelan journalist in Caracas. “It was then when Francisco replied: Yes, you can do something. Why don’t you gather a group of artists abroad to raise their voices together and to advocate for us through a video that we could make viral? ". And that's how it happened, that's how this campaign "Venezuela Wants to Live" was born”, added Angola.

"The idea of the campaign arose from the need to makethe situation visible and to help people with chronic health conditions who suffer a dramatic situation in front of a huge shortage of medicines and medical treatments. All because the Venezuelan state refuses to solve this humanitarian emergency”, said Francisco Valencia, President of the CODEVIDA Organization.

The campaign includes 21 videos which will be disseminated through social networks Twitter, Instagram, Facebook and YouTube, and aims to show the world that these Venezuelans are not just statistics, nor they are numbers; they are people with famiies and dreams.

While the campaign was being published, 66 women with breast cancer lost the battle, just like so many others do lose theirs; even when the disease is detected at an early stage. Having no treatment means to lose the battlesimply because, without medication, people aren’t able tofight it.

There is no time!

“16 thousand Venezuelans need dialysis three times a week to stay alive, machines fail. There are no filters, andwe were late for the 14 who died in the last two months or for the 33 patients with hemophilia who also did not resist before concluding this campaign. We are still in time for the 3,500 transplant patients who could live the same fate and for the 5,000 patients with hemophilia if we managed to buy prophylactic treatment on time”, added Valencia.

The campaign "Venezuela Wants to Live" aims to collect donations so that the Organizations CODEVIDA and Action for Solidarity can, through their allies, acquire all the medicines that are no longer available in Venezuela and hopefully save thousands of lives. Both organizations have an international logistics team of volunteers that will allow them to distribute the medicines to Venezuelans in need.

We do not want any more prayers to prevent someone else from dying. We need your help!
