Accessible Housing and equipment

As so many know, our search for accessible housing started about three years ago. In my attempts to be proactive I have made hundreds of calls and sent as many e-mails. I knew that this day was inevitable.
We are faced with an urgent situation now living on the second floor, and having increasing difficulty carrying Ian out of the house and transferring him in to his wheelchair. We are on waiting lists for housing. I have called RI and Providence housing authorities, and numerous agencies that all tell me I have done everything I can. Now we wait. Some wait lists are up to 7 years. I can't even wait 7 more months. We either need accessible housing, or a piece of equipment that has to be custom made that will cost us over $8000. Insurance will not cover it.
Ideally we need to move. I am told because we are a working family we do not qualify for low income housing (income based).  We do however qualify for rent restricted, or "tax credit" housing. We require a first floor, or a building with an elevator.
Any and all money we receive will go toward a new place to call home, or the equipment required to get Ian in and out of our apartment safely.  See link below:
