Access Soup Kitchen Building Fund

My name is James Pack, and I am a student representative at the Access Soup Kitchen in Frankfort, Kentucky. I have volunteered since I was very young, beginning in the third grade, and haven't stopped since. Every time I serve, we serve at least 75 people, and have even served over 100 from time to time. Regardless of the exact number on a given day, the kitchen provides an invaluable service to many living downtown. 


In 2015, the kitchen's board of directors began to raise money to renovate the building, allowing us to prepare and serve more meals and to house more men at night, as the living quarters are incredibly cramped. Phase 1 of the renovations took place in 2016, when a laundry room, new restrooms, and additional dining space was added to the building. Phase 2 is being fundraised for now, with a final goal of $225,000 to pay off a loan taken to complete this renovation. The new renovation will include new living spaces, larger bathroom spaces for residents of the shelter, an updated and more modern kitchen, and increased storage spaces for donations.


If you could make a donation, it would greatly help this amazing organization. Even though I have been working at the kitchen more than half my life, I have unfortunately noticed that the same faces are still living at the shelter, and coming through the line for meals, including some that have young children and families to care for. The sooner we are able to raise money, the sooner the spaces are able to be renovated so that more people in the downtown Frankfort area can be helped.
