Hi,
My name is Abigail Pesci; I am 16 years old, living in England and I am raising funds to go on a life changing journey.
In July 2018, I plan to join the Borneo trip organized by Camps International. It is a 4 week opportunity of a lifetime trip where I will get to experience different projects including kindergarten development, wildlife conservation, and environmental care. I believe in three things that make a better place and better community: education, environement, and healthcare. An opportunity presented to me that brings much pleasure as I get to experience the 3 things I believe in.
An act of kindness defines who I am and curiosity is my second nature. I want to help people in different ways and travel more to experience different culture. The Borneo trip is my first step to learn new things outside of England . During the trip, Camps International will conduct activities for Kindergarten Development to expand the current kindergarten which is currently overcrowded due to the fast growing young children population. Activities include making foundation, building decoration, furniture making, landscaping and water storage systems. It is a great activity where I get to contribute in creating a better place for education environment where more young children can learn and play.
Seed plantation, tree planting, and wildlife care; contributes and support the current environment of the village. Borneo, a giant, rugged island in South East Asia surrounded by rainforest; is facing deforestation which effects the wildlife environment and living. Orangutans, elephants, and proboscis monkeys, is one of the world’s most important and most threatened natural habitats. I will be involved in activities that will help safeguard this wildlife paradise for their population growth especially by planting trees that will be part of their future home.
Finally, I will be involving in activities including digging trenches for water pipes, laying foundation for water tanks, and constructing fishpond. The village and the surrounding neighbors are facing a water crisis and they can not afford a proper water tank system. They are solely reliant on pumping fresh water from the valley below and storing it through the year. Fresh water is a very important component to any country’s healthcare. Maintenance or improvement of health is critical in preventing disease or illness; and fresh water plays a main role on prevention. By helping the village to improve the water systems, the whole community will benefit greatly in improving their health and well-being.
Different people who will travel with me to Borneo will have their own unique vision and mission. My mission is to take my first step on helping a community by improving their education, environment, and healthcare; my vision is to develop within myself and learn to be a leader where I get to start my own journey and make my own group for helping people in an act of kindness.

I have saved £600 so far and any extra will be given to the Kindergarten to help with the building, to buy stationary and books.
