Abel’s surgeries

Donation protected
Abel is unfortunately a victim of terrible breeding.

He was rescued on 9/6/19 he is only 2 years old and his owner had purchased him from a pet store. He was surrendered due to a bite.

Abel can barely open his eyes. We took him to the ophthalmologist Dr. Brown who said he needs bilateral upper and lower lid entropion surgery with possible brow lift.

Abel saw Dr. Morton a specialist that deals with respiratory surgeries. She consulted with us and Abel needs bilateral nasal reconstruction to open his nasal passages, he also needs soft palete reconstruction that his blocking his airflow. If his tonsils are enlarged and also blocking his air flow those will have to be removed. If all goes well, Abel will have both surgeries done on October 8, 2019 and both surgeons will operate at the same time. He will spend 24 hours in the ER getting 24 hour observation and if all is good he can come home the following day.
If he starts to swell during his palete surgery and it causes too much inflammation than he will require a temporary tracheotomy and be monitored for 3-5 days in the hospital until the inflammation goes down and he can go home.
Post op- will be two weeks from the surgical date and he will have to be sedated so the respiratory surgeon can make sure everything has healed nicely. I have not even added that charge to the go fund me.
We have had to raise funds quickly to save Dorie’s life, Basil’s life, Clay’s life and Jayco’s life. I hope that you will donate to help us with Abel. This is not his fault and I could go on a rant about how breeders are breeding these poor dogs for “look” and not for health and the dog suffers! He is SUFFERING and rescues are picking up the pieces from the dogs that breeders carelessly sell to pet stores or to buyers who don’t know the breed, just want a cute puppy, breeders who don’t microchip there dogs, work with dog brokers to get these dogs into Pet stores..
I will end my rant.
This is about Abel and he needs these surgeries. He deserves to be able to breathe and be able to SEE without being in pain. He can’t even walk a quarter mile without getting over heated because he doesn’t have proper airflow.
Please help us share, we have already spent at least a thousand on him with medications, transport, opti visors, comfy cone, etc. we have a similar case in Michigan but luckily his palete is okay but we have spent close to $750 so far on the MI boy and he will also require two more surgeries.
Thank you for sharing, donating, caring about a dog that didn’t ask to have these problems, and helping our rescue to continue to take on these serious medical cases.  I should make the amount for $10k because as I know in rescue something unexpected always comes up. He will be in the great hands of Dr. Brown who treated Clay at the Animal Eye Clinic in Orange Park, FL  which is attached to AVS Blue Pearl where Dr. Morton will perform his respiratory surgeries and it’s also where Dorie went for all of her physical therapy appointments. We do get a rescue discount but, I won’t know what that is until the surgeries are completed. He will need prayers, he is in the best 4 hands possible but, as a chow who has respiratory issues he will be closely monitored.

Thank you for helping us hopefully save another life and give him a pain free new life and home.
