Sikh Homeless Man

Mr. Singh is a Sikh Homeless man in this late 50’s currently living in the Yuba-Sutter Community. He is currently living in a shed with no electricity and no running water. He has no family and no friends here in the community. His mother who helped care for him passed away. Mr. Singh is a kind, friendly man and every week when I visit him I ask him if there is anything I can provide him with, food, money blankets, clothes, or anything else and his only request is a place to live.

Claudia a young single mother has been volunteering several hours a week to help care for Mr. Singh she ensures that he receives his medication and has what he needs to survive. Even though the two of them do not speak a common language they have become so connected.

Mr. Singh has various health concerns and is unable to take his medication without supervision. He requires assistance (which Claudia does from him), placing his pills in a pill box so that he can take his medicines when needed ensuring he doesn’t have a seizure.

Among his seizures Mr. Singh also has recently had surgery on his hip and is unable to work although he was a  farm laborer for ten years.


We have found a care home for Mr. Singh to be moved to but do not have the financial resources to place him.  We need to set up a fund that will allow us to cover his $700 a month expense for the next 6 months. After that we believe his medical, coverage and social security with are active and he will be able to be placed.

He needs to be place in a care facility as soon as possible, he has not been feeling well and has been losing weight and struggling in the conditions.
