AAUP at AUC Legal Fund

On 8 March 2017 members of the AUC chapter of the American Association of University Professors (AAUP) and Concerned Faculty spoke with a lawyer in the United States about our faculty’s employment situation in general, and the legal status of the Faculty Handbook specifically. The conversation was very positive.
Based on the initial consultation, these groups of faculty will retain the lawyer. As per the retainer agreement, the lawyer’s “representation of the Clients is limited at this juncture to counseling the Clients concerning the Client’s employment situation, preparing a demand letter, attempting to negotiate a resolution of the dispute, and filing administrative charges, as appropriate.” The retainer costs USD5000. In anticipation of additional costs, it is advisable that faculty collect USD10,000. The lawyer can start providing her services as soon as the retainer is paid. Thank you in advance for your contribution.
