Aarti Home - Stop Female Foeticide
Donation protected
Aarti Home is a village that was created to help abandoned or abused women in 1992. It began with my aunty Sandhya taking an abandoned 2 year old girl, Radhika, in to her home from the streets. Soon our family and friends all pitched in to get a house and a bank account to help raise more girls. Soon as the word spread the home became larger. There were girls brought there because their mothers were ill, because families couldn’t afford them, because their parents had died, but, at the root of it all, because they were girls. With time, it became obvious that the number of girls being abandoned was far greater than the number of boys: over 90% of the children in Aarti Home are female.
Being abandoned is one thing but Aarti Home has now taken an active role in educating about and preventing female foeticide.
Any amount can make a huge difference in these childrens lives. It may even save a life.
