Become part of an exciting opportunity to break down musical barriers around the world! As a rock guitarist who became a classical cellist and combined the two into a new style called "celtar" (playing the cello like a guitar) I have dedicated my life to creating a whole new way of interacting with music. Rather than separating it into narrow genres (as record companies do to generate sales) music should be about a free exchange of ideas and inspiration that knows no boundaries and is free to go wherever the muse leads!
With the help of Margaret McConachie (a NZ cellist who performs my music) we are self booking a rock/classical tour around the whole country during the entire month of August, 2017! You may have heard of singer/songwriters doing this kind of thing, but it is unheard of to do this on the classical side! Yet, what better way to bring classical music "from the suites to the streets"!
We have many of the top schools and universities in the country participating, as well as schools for the underpriviledged, and the indigenous Maori people. I will be giving concerts, workshops, masterclasses and lectures (including an interfaith seminar on my book about religion: Beyond Faith). Highlights will include conducting my own brand new school orchestra music and giving the •world premiere• of my concerto for cello and strings: Summer Haze, with the exceptional Taranaki Youth Orchestra!
Your contributions will help pay for the expensive plane flights, local transportation, 30 nights of hotels and meals, and other expenses, such as making videos (with professional editing) of many of the events (including the world premiere). I will be getting some payment for my time, but for many events I will receive only a token fee (especially the ones for the underprivileged) and even with the concerts it will not cover all expenses. Please give what you can, and become part of this great endeavor! How often does one get the chance to fund and participate in a cultural exchange that will reverberate around the world?
