Help a family get back on their feet

Chardonai, Aundrell, Kaiden and Isaiah are a bright, kind, hardworking and longsuffering family who have been preyed upon and failed by government and capitalist institutions.

In 2018, they leased a car from a predatory loan agency, because intergenerational poverty has left them with bad credit.  Then, they were subject to a hit-and-run that the police refused to investigate, despite arriving immediately on the scene and having multiple witnesses.  Though the children were in the car, no one was hurt -- but the car was damaged.  They couldn't afford to get it fixed.

This damage culminated in the car eventually malfunctioning and crashing months later.  Luckily, no one was hurt.  They couldn't afford to have it towed, so they abandoned the car.  Now the car has been repossessed, adding another black mark to their credit, and because the car was "parked" illegally, they may be facing court appearances and fines.

Meanwhile, when Aundrell brought the children to a routine doctor's appointment after Kaiden had played too rough with then infant Isaiah and hit him with a toy, the doctor -- who has an inappropriately personal relationship with the family and has been clear in the past that she doesn't like Aundrell -- reported him for child abuse.  What followed was, and continues to be, a prolonged legal battle.  Aundrell has been hit with heavy charges that have interfered with him finding employment.  Due to the restrictions on Aundrell being around the kids, Chardonai has had to quit both of the jobs she was originally working.  They both have family members that can provide a place to live -- but they all live out of state, and Chardonai and Aundrell are not legally allowed to leave Oregon for the foreseeable future.

Without income, they cannot cover rent and bills.  They are seeking assistance from every agency they can find that provides rental and utility assistance.  They are receiving food stamps and TANF, but that does not cover their expenses -- it doesn't even cover rent.  They've looked into receiving assistance from SEI, IRCO, Insights, Impact NW, and St. Vincent De Paul, but those programs can't help them, or can't continue to help them.  They are looking into other resources as well, but in the meantime, they need community support so they can stay housed.  They haven't made rent the last two months.

With your support, they will:

Pay off bills and rent

Get a reliable car, preferably without a loan or lease

Stock up on necessities, like diapers and wipes

Get a laptop, enroll in online school so Chardonai can work toward becoming an NICU nurse

Save up any extra for emergencies

A message from Chardonai:

"The support would mean I'm not alone and that there are people out there who care and I would be extremely grateful because it would be keeping a roof over my family’s heads and being able to be somewhat stable for a while until we can get on our feet."
