Dana's Medical Fund

Donation protected
My name is Candace Prejean and I am part of a special group of friends who have become family to each other. We call our group "SWAT", Singles with a Testimony", and came together through Fellowship Bible Church in Rogers, AR. We are raising money for medical expenses for our dear friend, Dana Carr who is part of our group. Dana is a 37 year old single mother raising her 7 year old little girl, Emma. She is a wonderful mother, friend, co-worker, sister in Christ, and loved by many. Dana is a beautiful person, inside and out, and brings joy to all of those who are around her. She has been through many hard times in life and yet continues to have a kind heart, a love for Jesus and enjoys to laugh and bring smiles to others.

Despite the many trials Dana has overcome in life, on Thursday, December 22, 2016, she unexpectedly woke up to face an overwhelming battle for life itself. Dana was having major chest pains and was rushed to the hospital and diagnosed with a dissected aorta going from her heart to her thigh. She was in a life-threatening situation and was informed by doctors that she would need a very extensive heart surgery immediately with only a 50/50 chance of survival. The surgeon would try his best to fix her heart to stabilize her but he would not be able to restore the rest of the aorta going to her thigh. Dana was in very critical condition so it was a miracle that she endured long enough to make it into the operating room for surgery that day. Unfortunately, Dana does not have relatives here locally to be with her in this terrible situation but God was with her. He immediately gathered her friends, co-workers, and members of her church to show support and pray for Dana. We knew that Dana faced a huge obstacle but that she is a strong woman and a fighter. If anyone could survive this, it would be our Dana. Despite the odds, she then fought for her life through an almost 8 hour surgery and survived. A chaplain at the hospital said that Dana’s surgery was the most invasive and complex heart surgery he has yet to witness in his entire career of 29 years.

Currently, Dana is in critical condition but is steadily making improvements each day. She has a long road of recovery ahead and may need to be transferred to a larger hospital for additional surgeries to repair the remaining section of the aorta going to her thigh. We are so thankful to God that he has helped Dana through all that she has endured. However, we also know that she will be out of work for a while and will be facing many expenses for surgeries, hospital stays, medications, child care, etc. It is very unfortunate for Dana and Emma to have to go through such a horrible time and be apart for Christmas. This time of year is about the birth of our savior, Jesus Christ, first and foremost. It is also a time to celebrate with family and friends and show love in giving to one another. If you would like to be a part of helping this amazing single mother and daughter, we ask that you would shower them with prayers and contribute a donation today. Any amount that you can contribute would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance and we wish you and your families a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
