Hi all!  Sorry, I wish I had the time to cut an awesome and witty video, but my laptop is at 32% and hey, lol, it's a reality of not having power.

I'm filming a promo here at an orphanage (Relief for Kids in Haiti).  Short story: they need a generator—we're looking at a solar powered one at the moment (About $2000)

Yes the need is immediate, but eventually they want to get a program going to teach the kids English and computer literacy for online classes. But first, they need power.

I have $600 in tips from the coffee shop and will be adding to that when I get home.  I'm hoping you'll join me for the remainder and help me get the funding to them by my birthday (end of July)  :)

Their present rented generator.  A full tank (5 gal.) will last them a day, at $10/gal. There's not a lot of money to pay out for things, so renting isn't the best option.  It also isn't strong enough to power a refridgerator, so they fill a chest full of ice every day to keep things cool.

WOOHOO! With other donations outside of GoFundMe, you've helped raise OVER FIVE THOUSAND DOLLARS!! :-D

Dad and I went down to the solar fabricators today to meet and speak personally with one of the owners. We were able to talk about what would be involved as well as set up a more in-depth appointment to learn specifics like pricing, how many panels, batteries, inverters, etc. we'll need, what would be involved with the installation, and if they'd possibly be willing to help us out in any way with the cost.

It was exciting to actually see these bad boys! They're well-made, guaranteed for 25 years and able to withstand quite a bit of abuse (whether it be climate, or neighbors). We're looking at an 8-panel setup to be able to power all their potential needs.

We're halfway there! The road continues :)

Oh my lands!!! You all are absolutely FABULOUS!

Here's the latest: Other donations have actually put our total to over $3,000 (yes, it's incredible, since technically it was all raised in one day, thanks to an anonymous donor that matched our original 1k).

So here's what we're going to do: Instead of just a solar cube that would only power basics, we will continue raising and reaching out to other outlets to make our goal a state-of-the-art solar setup that will not only power a refrigerator (they don't have one yet), but also computers and their entire orphanage. I'm working with one of the smartest men I know (my dad, aka Genius in building/electrical/mechanics) to put together the most efficient system that will last them the longest.

We've already Skyped with Charles and Marc in Haiti and will be continuing talks with fabricators in the area until we get this bad-boy installed! With the amount of wattage needed, the funds will pay for the panels, mounting brackets, wiring and deep-cell batteries. If we have more, then we might be able to include a computer :)

Until then, thank you so much for contributing to the future of these kids! It gets them off the streets and out of gangs (they use children to kill others, even for as little as 10 USD).

If you know anyone who would like to get behind a cause like this, please share!

You guys ROCK!!!! Onwards and upwards, all to the glory of our awesome God.
