Entusi Music Festival

Donation protected
The Entusi Music Festival is a perfect representation of a community being brought together and directly connected to the outside world through common goals.  We seek to demonstrate how music and the arts can lead to development and community progress.

The people of Southwest Uganda have invited us to join with them in producing a unique musical and artistic experience in the town of Kabale.  From October 19-26 of this year 15 American artists from New Orleans, Nashville, and Denver representing a broad array of musical styles will stay with 10 of our Ugandan counterparts as guests of the Global Livingston Institute.  For five days we will conduct workshops and intermusical sessions culminating in a collaborative musical event on Saturday October 25, 2014 at the Kabale Sports Complex.  Nashville country music will blend with traditional Kikiga flute music; hip-hop and rap out of Denver, and Chiga chanting.

The proceeds of the festival will be allocated to the expansion of the program, employing and empowering more regional workers and artists and connecting them with artists, producers and supporters around the globe. It is a form of economic development resulting from multicultural exchange.
All of the American artists are working pro bono, and your contribution goes directly to fostering our three guiding principles of Unity & Inclusion, Culture, and Collaboration.

What's more, all donations go through the Global Livingston Institute, a 501(c)(3), making every penny of your gift tax deductible!

More Information about our principles:
UNITY & INCLUSION- Every individual contains within them a perspective that needs to be expressed, a vision that needs to be seen, a voice that needs to be heard. This is why each of us has a responsibility to use all of our tools to build a beloved community, in which every person is included, and all of our gifts are shared.
CULTURE- When gifts are shared in a community, we call it culture. Any culture has patterns, longstanding ways of sharing gifts that we call tradition. But the patterns are always growing and changing, through breakthroughs in technology and thought - new ideas & discoveries, inventions and inspiration, the sharing of gifts from near and far.
COLLABORATION - All people have within them creative potential. Some people put special effort into developing and utilizing this creativity in themselves, and noticing this creativity in others. We call these people artists and musicians.
When artists and musicians come together, we bring with us the traditions from which we have grown. Our voices contain breaths of air from the landscapes that have created us. Our creations are woven from the fabric of the lives of all the people we know. We are both rooted and free.   We respect tradition, because we are the bearers of it. We are grounded in it and owe everything to it.  We seek growth, because we are the source of it. We are driven by it, and invest everything towards it.

Your support is greatly appreciated and the effects on the community will be tangibly positive instantaneously.
