The Choir of First United Methodist Church in Quitman, Texas has been invited to sing at Carnegie Hall in New York City! This very talented group of singers has been selected to join other great choirs for a once in a lifetime experience of performing the amazing music of Joseph Martin in the Hall's celebrated Isaac Stern Auditorium. We are so honored and excited for them to represent the small community of Quitman, TX and other small choirs everywhere! As with any lifetime experience, it's going to cost money. So, here we are asking you to "Go Fund Them" in this exciting venture.
The Choir will be winging their way to New York City the day after Thanksgiving. Rehearsals for New York Premiere of The Winter Rose by Joseph Martin begins on Saturday, continue through Monday culminating in a performance on Monday Night. The choir will also participate in clinics that will help them refine their musical skills and elevate their ability to lead in worship long after they return to our Church in East Texas.
This extraordinary experience includes sending 20 choir members to perform the New York Premiere of Joseph Martin's Winter Rose at Carnegie Hall and rehearse for 2 1/2 days with the distinguished composer, Joseph Martin himself, conducting!
Trip and related expenses are expected to cost around $2,000 per choir member. Monies raised towards our GoFundMe goal of $25,000 will help us with:
o Round Trip Flights to New York City
o Transportation To and From all Airports
o Hotel Stay while in New York City
o Meals and related expenses
o Fees associated with the 2 1/2 days of Rehearsals and Clinics leading up to the Performance
After the Choir returns to Quitman, you will be invited for a performance of the Winter Rose during the Christmas Season as we celebrate the wonderful birth of our Savior! (Dates of Christmas Performance will be announced later.)
