Relief for Carl Simmons and Family

Carl has been a volunteer with the fire service since 1983.  At the age of 17, he joined the Olden Volunteer Fire Department in Olden, Texas.  He served with them until 1999.

 In February 2010 he moved to Delta Junction, Alaska and joined the Rural Deltana Volunteer Fire Department in May 2010.  He also volunteered as an ambulance driver with Delta Rescue from 2010 until 2013.  He remains an active member of the Rural Deltana Volunteer Fire Department.

 On August 5, 2015, while working on the roof over the deck at his residence where he lives, part of the roof collapsed and Carl fell and broke his shoulder.  The break required surgery on August 10, 2015.  Carl has been out of work without pay since August 6.  He is now undergoing therapy and will continue therapy until at least October 15, 2015 when he will be reevaluated by the surgeon. There is no light duty available for him at his place of work, so he must be fully able to do his job before he can be cleared to return to work.  He will continue to be without income for almost another month.
