My name is Jade Gould, I am a Butchulla and Woppaburra woman from Hervey Bay &Fraser Island/Kepple Islands. I was the first in my family to complete high school, so completing a Bachelor of Science was a massive acheivement. I am currently completing a Masters of Science (majoring in Sustainability and Envrionmental Management) in hope to make a difference to Aboriginal communities by reducing the impact climate change may have not only on our every day lives but also the impact it may have on our culture.
To my honour, I have been selected to represent SEED (and Aboriginal Australia) at the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change this year in Paris, France during November and December.
The purpose of the Convention is to keep global warming below 2°C.
By attending Convention I hope to learn leadership skills to build the Climate movement in Australia, network with other Youth around the globe, and elevate and motivate the voices of Australian Indigenous Youth.
