A Valentine for Gunther

Gunther is our very own Big Friendly Giant.  This handsome, gentle almost one-hundred-pound sweetheart American Bulldog was found on the streets in Contra Costa County as a skinny, neglected, scared stray.  He bares the scars both physically and emotionally of a lifetime of mistreatment.  Yet, Gunther is one of the kindest souls we have encountered; the perfect gentle giant.  He loves kids, adults, all size dogs-he is basically a dream family dog.     

Gunther’s chances of making it out of the Contra Costa Shelter were very poor. He was very scared. He appeared much older than he really is (our vet thinks about 4 or 5). But, worse yet, Gunther has four about one-inch masses, which occasionally bleed, growing on his penis and inner thighs. There is a chance they could be cancer.

Family Dog saw Gunther’s kind heart and could not say no to helping this amazing gentleman.  We took him knowing that he was going to require expensive surgery to remove the masses, as well as several broken teeth.

Gunther’s surgery will cost about $5,000 or more. The gift of this surgery will enable Gunther to finally get the real family he deserves.
