Help a group of hardworking Georgia elementary school children realize their dream of competing in the Global Finals of Destination Imagination. These children placed first at the State Finals for the very first time and need help to cover the costs to attend the finals in Kansas City, Missouri.
Learning from Destination Imagination
For the past 4 years, students at Chattahoochee Elementary School in Duluth, GA have had the opportunity to participate in Destination Imagination, an international educational program that provides creative problem-solving opportunities for students from kindergarten through college. Destination Imagination is a learning experience which has helped our students develop skills that will last them a lifetime. Students work in teams to evaluate ideas and make decisions without adult assistance. They learn to cooperate and respect the ideas of others. Our students have gained greater self-confidence and increased self-esteem through their hard work. Most importantly, they see that there is often more than one way to solve a problem and that sometimes the process is more important than the end result.
An Invitation to Global Finals
After months of preparation, our 2nd and 3rd grade team from Chattahoochee Elementary School placed first at the State Finals Tournament on March 23 for the very first time, and as a result, the team has been invited to attend and compete at the Destination Imagination Global Finals in Kansas City, Missouri from May 22nd through 25th. https://www.globalfinals.org/ Our school community, the team, and team parents all very much want these hardworking students to experience attending and competing at the Global Finals and have the experience they have worked so hard to earn, while proudly representing not only their school, but the City of Duluth, Gwinnett County, and the State of Georgia.
How You Can Help
Our team will be spending time after school over the next 6 weeks to prepare for the competition. We have a long way to go to reach our goal of $4,600, which will partially cover the cost to send our students to Global Finals in Kansas City, Missouri. We have received a generous donation from our school, but we need your help to meet our goal. If we raise more than our goal, we will donate the remaining amount to Chattahoochee Elementary School to support future Destination Imagination teams.
Cost to Attend
The cost of registration is $5,500 per team. We also need to provide our own transportation (e.g., airfare), housing, and food at Global Finals. In addition, we need to ship our props and set to Kansas City. We estimate the total cost to send our team will be $10,150. Our goal is to raise enough money to cover the remaining registration fee ($4,000) and the cost to ship our props and set ($600).
An Experience to Remember
The chance to go to the Destination Imagination Global Finals in Kansas City is an amazing opportunity for our students. Being surrounded by passionate and creative students from around the world will be a life-changing and inspiring experience that our students will remember for the rest of their lives. Any financial support you can provide for our team would be greatly appreciated.
