A Tribute To Reece Modzelewski

Donation protected
I write to you all on behalf of the St. Mary's Regional High School/Cardinal McCarrick High School Class of 2002 and friends.  This GoFundMe campaign has been created centered around a 3-month-old baby boy, Reece.  Reece's parents, Mark and Nicole, are currently dealing with Reece's very recent and very tragic injury.  Reece has suffered serious brain damage and currently exists on life support with a very poor prognosis.  Mark and Nicole currently face the reality of bidding farewell to their infant son, who does not have much time left.   The strings of our hearts are so heavy for them, and we hope that our love, support, and dedication to "springing into action" to honor their baby can help to raise them up from this devastation.

As you might imagine, the insurmoutable grief, hysteria, and the responsibility for decisions that I pray no one should ever have to make are a stark and painful reality for Reece's parents.  There is simply never a way to understand or to grasp a parent losing their child; to imagine the sea of their grief and helplessness is impossible.  We, as their friends, are committed to providing some ray of hope for them, which we believe could somehow be provided by creating something beautiful out of something absolutely tragic.

Mark, Nicole, and Reece are residents of Carteret, New Jersey.  As such, we are working in conjuction with the local municipal authorities there in order to purchase a bench at Chrome Park or Carteret Waterfront Park, as well as to have a tree planted at Chrome Park or Carteret Waterfront Park, both in Reece's honor.  It is our hope that as the years pass and the seasons change, during which Reece's Tree will grow, bloom, and provide shade and shelter, while forever remaining a symbol of the gift of life...Reece's life.  Additionally, the bench, on its four legs, symbolizes a place of relief, reflection, and contemplation, while also showcasing a strong sense of structure, stability, and grounding.  Although we are unable to bring peace to Mark and Nicole, we hope that this strong bench will forever be a reminder to them of their strength, as well as a reflection of our support for them and their son, Reece.

I am unable to provide a specific amount of the costs associated with this endeavor, as details are still being worked out with the local municipality, but I will certainly post more specific monetary details as they become available.  I have currently listed $1,500 as the campaign goal in order to be modest and safe, all at the same time.  The planting and dedication of the tree, as well as the dedication of the bench, will be conducted in a dedication service on site, followed by a luncheon in support of Mark and Nicole.

**I would like to note that there is currently another amazing GoFundMe campaign underway for Reece's parents to assist them with their expenses as they endure this horrible tragedy.  Our campaign, however, is focused solely on a creating a way to honor Reece by planting new life and watching it grow (tree), while also creating a place for reflection in permanent existence in honor of sweet Reece (bench).  If additional funds are available beyond the expenses of the tree and bench, then surely those funds will be given directly to Mark and Nicole.**

PLEASE share, share, share, and share again!

We are adding a swing set to this campaign in honor of Reece!!
