"A Thousand Dreams"

Donation protected

Dear Friends,

We are excited to announce  "A Thousand Dreams" campaign, an initiative put together by 80 of our beneficiaries in secondary schools across Nigeria who decided that having benefited from several years
of support, they want to help a thousand other children like them across their communities to receive basic quality education for the first time! The entire volunteer community at Slum2School Africa cannot be more proud of them, thus, we are counting on you to join us in making this goal a reality by October 2018.

But first, a little context of who we are, what we do, and why we do it. . .
Slum2School Africa is a non-profit organization that aims to provide educational and psychosocial support to school-age children in slum communities across Africa starting with Nigeria, which currently has the highest number of out-of-school children in the world (10.5 million).

In our first year of operation six years ago, with the support of friends like you, we enrolled 118 children into schools for the first time, ages ranging from 10 - 13 years old. The next year we enrolled another 220,
then 350 in the following year. This number keeps increasing yearly, and currently, we have supported over
32,000 children from slum communities in Nigeria through scholarships and various support programs in school.

Two weeks ago, over 260 of our children graduated from four different primary schools, and among this
graduating set were kids like: Goodluck, a skilled cobbler who made a pair of sandals for
Mr. Herbert Wigwe, the Managing Director of Access Bank Plc. Goodluck aspires to become a lawyer in the near future; Ozioma who aspires to become a banker is one of the 2018 Spelling Bee winner;  Halimat, the oldest of our beneficiaries at age 20, recently completed her primary school education as the best graduating student and most well behaved despite losing both parents earlier. She aspires to become a doctor.

These stories are typical of the successes we continually celebrate at Slum2School Africa. These
stories strengthens our belief that what we do is really bringing hope to lots of children across Nigeria, and Africa in the near future. The more crucial part of this journey is that none of these successes would
have been achievable without the support of friends and family like you.

Our current goal. . .
Our fundraising goal for "A Thousand Dreams" campaign is N50,000,000.00 Naira (~$140,000.00 USD) to sponsor 1000 kids across Lagos State, Rivers State, Ibadan in Oyo State, Abuja, and Borno states as new beneficiaries at Slum2School Africa who will receive educational scholarships and psychosocial support to commence the 2018-19 school year. It costs ~N50,000.00 Naira to sponsor a child in school for a whole year and our goal is get 1000 children into school for the first time by this year. This cost will take care of all their school needs, instructional materials, uniforms, shoes, books, excursions, medical support, extra-curricular classes, tech classes, teacher support etc.

We invite you to support our campaign and help the dream of a thousand more children like Goodluck, Ozioma, and Halimat come alive, as we firmly believe that together we will achieve much more.
