Lara is my twin sister, a devoted daughter and a fiercely loyal friend. She is the person who truly lights up the room when she enters. Her beautiful, infectious smile, kind and generous soul always leaves you wanting more.
She knows no other way but to fight. Fight for love. Fight for family and now the toughest battle of all - Her fight for Life

Lara was diagnosed 10 years ago at the age of 29 with a rare form of Leukaemia, Chronic Myeloid Leukaemia (CML). At the time there had not been any other cases in Australia of this occurring in a female under the age of 50.
For the last decade she has fought with everything she has to endure a gruelling treatment regime which has included Chemotherapy and every trial medication available. The toll this has taken on Lara has been immeasurable but the most devastating has been the loss of her most vital years – her 30’s, her career and her ability to ever become a Mother – A dream she will never realise.
Lara is now in the blast crisis stage which is the final stage of this chronic illness. She is a shadow of her former self.
Despite year after year of invasive treatments, the only possible cure for Lara has always been a bone marrow transplant. Lara has been on the International Bone Marrow Registry from day 1.
Lara has waited 10 heart breaking years for a 90% stem cell match. To date, a match has never become available.
Under the care of Australia’s leading Oncology and Haematology team, Lara is attempting a highly experimental Bone Marrow transplant using a donor who shares only a 50% stem cell match, a procedure that has rarely been performed in Australia.
A related donor is ready to travel to Australia for this procedure.
To make this possible, this crowd funding page has been created with the goal of providing practical support to meet the challenges which lie ahead of Lara and our family.
