A seat for Lucreta

It's coming up to a year since our very good friend, Lucreta La Pierre passed away. Before she died, Lucreta made us promise to put a bench for her near the finish area at Hilly Fields parkrun.

Many of you will remember that Lucreta was an incredibly generous and kind person who, after she had finished running the 5k herself, would pace up and down the finishing stretch, cheering, encouraging and even running alongside people to get them across that line! It seems fitting then, that we grant her wishes and install a circular bench around one of our finish area trees (hopefully the one where we have our pre-run briefing for first-timers and visitors). 

This bench will provide a sociable space for a few people to sit and chat after their run and also somewhere for her many friends to come and sit, admire the view and remember this incredible woman who shared her time with a great number of local community groups and spaces. 

Any donation, no matter how small, will help us make this happen and, if we are lucky enough to reach and then exceed our goal amount, any extra funds will be donated to the Anthony Nolan Trust , a charity that Lucreta herself supported through fundraising events and her wonderfully inspiring race cheering.
