A New Van for Roman's Mom

Jamie Ricca, mother of 10 year old Roman needs a new wheelchair accessible van so she can keep Roman going to school and all the other Pittsburgh places he goes with his family. We are raising $34,000 to get a new van for Roman's mom, Jamie.

For those friends unfamiliar with Roman’s story, a little background on him. Roman was born in March 2008 with Dravet’s Syndrome, a rare and lifelong form of epilepsy. Learn more about Dravet's Syndrome
His family, mom Jamie Ricca, stepdad Dan Parsons and 3 brothers, Daniel, 18, Braylen, 8 and Travis, 2 are on the go and rely on having a vehicle that will accommodate all of them. Roman attends the Western PA School for the Blind and absolutely LOVES it! The staff at the school has been instrumental in helping Roman reach his full potential.
Why $34000?
Our goal is a 2013 Chrysler Towne and Country van owned by a family whose loved one passed. They have offered to sell the van to Roman’s mom for the cost of the remaining loan, which is $34,000.
One of the reasons the need for the van is so huge is that Roman has to miss school on days when his current van is not running. Those days are increasing in frequency recently.
The family's current van is a 2005 Pontiac Montana and was donated to Jamie by a loving and generous family, Jeff and Lori Odes-Elnyczky, in memory of their son Ryan. Ryan Odes died in 2008 and his mum Lori created the “Pay it Forward for Ryan Odes” Memorial Fund. Each year on his birthday (September 21st) she encourages people to do or give something in Ryan’s name. In 2015, the family donated this van to Roman's family.
