Everything you need to know about Liver Transplants

Now let's talk about Elizabeth Vanyo-Blanks.

She's a Mom. She's a Grandma. Wife. Loves cats. Reading Romances. Cares for and about friends and family.

She is 1 of 11 children.

She got the news that she had Type II Diabetes  back in 2000 and it took some time to find the right treatments to balance her sugars. She found it and it is under control.

She sees her doctor on a regular basis and back in February 2018 nothing was or seemed to be too far of the normal range in her labs.

In April of 2018 she woke on a Sunday morning to find herself with the shakes that were very different from the normal low blood sugar shakes. Almost seemed like "Epilepsy" but there is no history of it in her family so she came down stairs and checked her sugar and all was good there "107".

By midday she felt woosy and the light-headedness would not go away and then the pain started in her stomach and an ambulance was called because the pain hit so fast and sharp. NO CLUE OF WHAT WAS TO COME...

We are not just raising money, we are also sharing this to help others BEFORE it sneaks up on them. There are signs that people ignore and even rationalize away. Signs of Liver Disease

After many hours in the E.R. and after an "Ultrasound" it was discovered that there were 4 scars on her liver and it looked like she was suffering from "Cirrhosis of the liver " and the E.R. doctor wanted to know how much she alcohol she drank on a regular basis. When he was told she did not drink he insisted she was in a safe place and she could speak freely.

Skipping ahead she was send to United Hospital where she was evaluated and found out it was Fatty liver Cirrhosis which is the non alcohol version. It has many causes and if you'll remember back in February 2018 there were no signs to make anyone think about Cirrhosis of any kind.

Not only did she have Cirrhosis she had stage 4! How? Why? What can we do!?!?

First see a specialist in the field
Talk to the Doctor:

Second follow the treatment plan and try to correct the issue without surgery.

Third when treatment plan fails get on the National Donors list (you'll need a referral).

Fourth which brings us here. Prepare by finding a donor liver and preparing to go where the transplant may need to be done and for the after care.

Money raised here is for Elizabeth's treatment and needed items NOT covered by insurance, travel expenses and for lodging when needed during the transplants many appointments for her and her family.

Talk to our team members for more info on other ways to help.
