A new kidney for Clarity

Hi, my name is Clarity. I am 41 and have two beautiful children, Caspian and Lucinda. I also have two failing kidneys. I suffer from a genetic illness that has deeply affected me since I was 8 years old. Through lots of surgery and medication, I've been able to keep using my kidneys, but now they're kicking the bucket.

I want a brand spanking new kidney so I can live a long, happy life and one day meet my grandchildren and great grandchildren. I have many more plants to grow, art projects to do, places to see and people to love.

The timeline for my transplant is the next 12 months. I am currently looking for and testing for a living donor kidney. Kidneys from living donors last twice as long and have a smaller rate of rejection. Did you know that when I get a new kidney, they won't take my old ones out and I'll have a total of 3? Fun fact. They also put my new one in the front, so don't punch me in the back OR the front.

The transplant surgery itself is covered by insurance, but the additional costs and after care are not. After the surgery, I will need to live near the transplant center for at least 6 weeks, as I will be going in every other day for testing. It takes awhile to get the cocktail of anti-rejection drugs right. My donor will also need to stay for 4 weeks to monitor his/her recovery.

I am raising funds for the medical bills I have now (pre-surgery appointments, consults, and testing) and the bills I will have during recovery. My donor will also need financial assistance.
