A NEW HOUSE FOR DOUG WOHLGEMUTH!!!

Donation protected
Doug was at work doing construction in July 2018 when he suffered a fall from a scaffold.  This left him paralyzed from the neck down.  After initial surgery to fuse vertebrae together in his neck he eventually moved to rehab where he has continued to do intense rehab therapy.  He has worked tremendously hard to get where he is today!  Doug's determination and hard work have stood him in good stead.  Today he motors around in his electric wheelchair and mostly feeds himself, albeit in a different manner than you and I.  One of the next hurdles to conquer is a house for Doug to live in with his family.  Workers Comp will pay for renovations to an existing house to make it wheelchair accessible.  Unfortunately for Doug and his family, their house simply cannot be renovated to accommodate his need... His electric wheelchair is too heavy for the structure to support it safely, plus there's a step in the main living area, not to mention the bathroom cannot be changed enough that it would work for Doug.  Also they do not have a garage.  Need I say more???  The wish right now of their friends, family and community is to build a house for Doug and his family that would cater to his needs.  Right now there is nothing suitable for sale in the community that could be renovated to fill his needs.  When rehab discharges him, he will have to go to interim housing, which in this case probably means a care home or assisted living of some kind.  Once again, he will be apart from his family!!  His wife and children have now been separated from Doug for 7 months.  The community and church family have been so wonderful at stepping up and helping out, but financially this goal is just beyond their ability to fill right now.  They need help... If anyone feels to donate it will go for A NEW HOUSE FOR DOUG!  The goal is not to build a fancy house, just one that works for Doug and his wheelchair AND his family to live comfortable together.  We humbly thank all those who feel to donate - whether it be $25 or $1000, anything is appreciated.  The estimated cost is $400,000 although they would try to sell their current place.  If anyone wants to read more of Doug's story they can follow Doug Wohlgemuth on Caring Bridge.
