A Message from Earth to Senators

Good afternoon, family and friends!
The aim of this campaign is to purchase and distribute a copy of The Lorax, by Dr. Seuss, to all 100 Senators. Your generous donations will allow for the purchase of the books through Barnes and Noble as well as funds for postage and handling. We are mailing a copy of the book to their offices along with the letter below.

Dear Senators,
We respectfully submit this copy of The Lorax for your review and consideration. This book was published in 1971 by the beloved children’s author Theodor Seuss Geisel, Dr. Seuss. The message is clear and transcends political, religious, social, as well as economic views. As of 2017, we find ourselves at a crossroads between sustainability or continue practices that endanger ALL life on this planet. Earth is the only planet sustaining life, all life including our own. Life necessitates clean water to drink and unspoiled earth to farm our food. Our current practices and policies do not sustain life for our children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews. On the other hand, these practices and policies continue to contaminant our water and soil. We need clean accessible water. We need soil to cultivate and farm. We need our oceans free of contaminants from land.
Despite all the negativity, our country has the brightest minds. We are a nation of visionaries. Our country is a product of the ingenuity, creativity, and problem-solving skills of its peoples. Let us reach across the political chasm and tap into the brilliant minds of our American people to develop methods that sustain life on this plant. Let us be a beacon of light to the world that sustainable practices and sound economic policy are two sides of the same coin. These two positions are not in opposition to one another. We can build sustainable practices as well as strengthen our economy by providing our brilliant men and women the opportunity to use their creativity for the very survival of life on this plant. Humanity demands we work together. After all, we are discussing our humble planet here. It is Earth; there is no plan B.
