A Life for a Friend In Need

Donation protected

From left to right, you can see this is Kidist (right) and myself (left).

I have known Kidist for over 15 years now. I won't bother you with a trip down memory lane, but right now, her and her young daughter, Maliah, need your help. Kidist has been struggling for a home, and can barely afford food for herself and my precious goddaughter. Maliah is 2 years old and such a sweetheart, just like her mother:

She was a little younger then, but she somehow managed to take selfies of herself--from a locked phone!

Now, I know what you're saying to yourself--why should I care about some black little girl and black mother, whom should've taken better steps to lead her own life?

The thing is, Kidist has always had it rough. So have I, you may say. Unlike many people, she was born with a crippling disease of Type I Diabetes. If you think Type II is bad, think again--this illness is so debilitating, she can barely manage going up and down stairs, and even simple things such as walking and eating. Type I is nothing to mess with, as insulin can be the definition between life or death. That's why it's so important that she receives these funds. Here's something to relate to: she was the black sheep of her family--the runt of the litter, one might say. Life is hard for ALL of us, but, this girl--this young woman--is far more than just "some black mother". For example:

*She is currently working on becoming a medical assistant--not the baby, silly, Kidist. Medical assistance is a fairly lucrative position, as any medical job is.
*She has used food stamps, which is now causing her issues because of the messed up system we have here.
*She has researched other sources that could possibly help her--including family, who constantly betray her, and friends.

As you can tell, she has tried and is still trying to find support for herself, other than relying on her fiance (who seems particularly unwilling to help her, but with a low-paying job, you can't do much in this economy).

All we ask is that you give $1. $1 can start the journey to safety, and peace, for a young mother and child in need. We're not asking for your money--we're asking for your help. It's critical that Kidist receives some type of assistance, especially during this Christmas season.

We want to help others as well. Click here for more info.

Donations will be used to help in many areas of her and her baby's life, including:
*Food
*Water
*Insulin (remember, she is a Type I diabetic).
*Diapers
*Supplies for the baby
*A form of shelter, such as an apartment

Any donation would be gratefully accepted, no matter how small. Even if no donations are received, sharing this story can help all in itself.

I want to give this as the ultimate Christmas gift for a friend that not only needs help but as a best friend that has helped me far more than she could ever know.

Please and thank you in advance, and happy holidays!
