A Lasting Memory for Chuck

Donation protected
One of our parent’s dreams was to retire and travel around the country seeing some of the staples…Grand Canyon, Alaska, and Northern California to see the Redwood trees. Unfortunately, their timeline has been dramatically decreased as our dad, Chuck, found out he has Progressive Muscular Atrophy, a rare form of Lou Gehrig’s Disease.

Growing up some of the best memories us kids have were on family vacations. I know it was always dad’s favorite thing as who doesn’t enjoy climbing into a van with at least 5 fighting kids (as we always had a foreign exchange student or friend with) and driving across the county? When you ask any of us our favorite stories from these trips one of the following two stories will be mentioned. The ‘road side adventure’ that involved microwavable gas station food and mom yelling “look out for the snakes!” Or the adventure we had making it down a steep, icy hill with a bridge at the bottom just to have the road blocked by a jack-knifed semi. Dad’s solution: go up an icy water drain-off passage! Cause that seemed safe!! But the cop did okay him trying (with a look of are you Crazy)!

When you think of Family Youth Community Connections, or more commonly known as FYCC, what comes to mind? Open Streets? Family Bingo? Bike Rodeo? The Spot? Dueling Pianos? Reading in the Park? Breakfast with Mom & Dad? The list is endless. Who do you think of? Sandy. She is a very well-known leader in the STMA Community who not only works for FYCC, but serves in countless roles in other organizations always looking for ways to help and put our needs first.

Well, it is now our time to act. It is our time to give back. It is our time to show how much the Greninger family has impacted all our lives within this amazing community. Chuck has been the man behind the scenes, the one that keeps Sandy, the focused driven, loving, caring super hero going strong each and every day.

It is Chuck’s wish to simply hit the road and just drive and see the staples. Along with that, they will need to make improvements to their home to give Chuck the ability to stay at home.

This is our call to you to help make Chuck’s needs and wishes come true without the Greningers worrying about financial burdens.
