A Journey to Nepal

Donation protected
My name is Wes, I am a structural engineer and I am very thankful to have had opportunities to work and study abroad. The kindness that people inside and outside the global engineering community showed me during those years, have molded me to become the man I am today. I am hoping to reciprocate this kindness and share my construction knowledge through a volunteer position at an NGO/NPO in Nepal, starting in May 2019, for a duration of at least three months.

The 2015 earthquake in Nepal resulted in 9000 dead, 22000 injured, and 3.5 million people homeless. The country continues to recover from the disaster. This is why I have decided take a hiatus from my career in Vancouver to follow my heart and help with seismic rehabilitation efforts in that country. Through the support of my fiance and various professional/personal connections, I have arrived at this point in my life. This deeply spiritual journey is only the beginning of the positive change I hope to create in the world.

I have resigned from my current engineering position, effective April 12 in order to pursue my dream in helping the people of Nepal. It will be an honour for me to help create safer and better homes for a families in need. These causes and beliefs are very close to my heart.

Should you feel inclined to support my cause, any amount of donation to help offset my travel/living expenses abroad and financial commitments back home in Canada will be greatly appreciated. If you are unable to support in the form of financial means, please share this page with your friends and family. I am hoping to bring gifts such as soccer jerseys, soccer balls, multivitamins, water purification tablets, etc. for the children I will come across during my stay. I am grateful for any form of contribution.

I will endeavour to keep everyone updated on a weekly basis during my time there through social media (Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/wesleylin007, Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/_wes_lin/), and am hoping to send generous donors a small token of appreciation from Nepal. Namaste.
