A CR fit for purpose

You raised the roof, but now can you help us fundraise the floor?
The Common Room (CR) space at Eddies was built at a time when there were fewer than 100 students on site. From Michaelmas 2019 this will be close to 600. The beautiful parquet floor over the decades has taken a battering. For over 50 years, we have been able to sand it down to hide the results of bops, parties, lock-ins and all other shenanigans but we have now reached a critical point.
The parquet floor is now too thin to sand down further without damaging its integrity. The CR more generally is looking a bit rough. The sofas are missing legs and caving in, and so the Master has kindly stepped up to replace all of them out of his own pocket. The pool table is bearing the scars and stains of 'ents' gone by, for which one of our alumni has kindly funded a replacement in its entirety.
Over the Christmas period, we are looking to renovate completely the fabric of the CR. We plan to replace the floor with a new hard-wearing composite floor. A wood base, with a high quality oak wood effect vinyl finish. This will be more durable while still looking good, and allowing the party to continue. At the same time, we hope to get the CR painted and refreshed with new curtains, at which point the Master's fleet of new couches can take their place in a space the students can cherish for years to come.
We have generated quotes for this project and turn now to you, our alumni community to help us fund the costs through this crowdfunder.
Each square metre of this project is worth £300, so we have a plan to additionally thank those who give over this amount. We are going to take a couple of the less battered fragments of the floor, sand them down, and carve into them the names of those who have invested in a square metre of the CR. We will then affix this above the doors in the CR for posterity.

Note on donations: All monies raised as a result of this crowdfunder will be allocated into the College's Master's Development Fund, which we use for building projects.
