A Community Greenway
Donation protected
Do you want somewhere safe and green where you can walk your dog, ride bikes with the kids, and commute by foot or bike to school or work?
We are raising funds to pay for an engineering plan and to use for matching dollars for grants. There will be two sections of the trail: one that runs along the old CSX railbed from the YMCA to the I-75 bridge near Chick-fil-A and the second starts at ABAC and ends downtown at the Tifton Terminal Railway Museum. Ultimately, the plan is to join these two sections of the greenway in the second phase of the project.
Carpenter Road Greenway Trail (YMCA to I-75 Bridge)
This section of the proposed greenway is already well shaded and will provide opportunities for residents as well as visitors to bicycle or walk to the various eating establishments along the route (Chick-fil-A, Buffalo Wild Wings, Panera Bread, Captain D’s, and Flash Foods). This will be especially attractive to visitors staying in nearby hotels and residents of the apartments near the YMCA.
Moore Highway Trail
ABAC to Railway Museum
This proposed trail will run along the existing railroad greenspace and provide a safe travel route to several schools including ABAC, UGA Tifton Campus, Len Lastinger, and Eighth Street Middle, and recreational areas including the Blue Devil Stadium and Tift County Recreation Department indoor/outdoor facilities. The downtown section of the trail will provide access to Veterans Memorial Park during festivals and to businesses such as Southern Bodies, Don Julio’s, The Bistro, The Local, Mi-Lady Bakery, 41 and Main, Terminal South Bar, and Fresco Italiano.
The greenway will make Tifton a desirable place to visit and attract people to make our community their home. With your support, we can make this project happen!
TiftArea Greenway Association (TAGA) is a 501(C)3 tax exempt organization.
