A Car for Gustavo

Ricky is an environmental design major at Texas A&M University. While he loves his major, the program has a lot of costs associated with it - a higher tuition than most other majors, expensive materials for projects, and a high time commitment. The most limiting program requirement is that during Ricky's junior year, he needs to have a semester-long internship at a professional architecture firm that is at least 50 miles outside of College Station. Since he does not have a car, applying for internships has not even been an option due to the fact that if a firm accepted him, he would have no mode of transportation. 

Ricky doesn't have the money or financial support from his family to afford to buy a car. Even though he's working two food service jobs and doing graphic design on the side, his money is focused on rent, tuition payments, and loan payments. He isn't able to take out any more loans for lack of a co-signer. 

Some of his friends were talking about how stupid this was, and how we love Ricky and want him to succeed. One of us suggested that we start a Go Fund Me to help him pay for a car. The next day, another one of us happened to find out that someone was selling a used car still in good condition for medium distance driving  for $4,500. She has to sell it by the end of October. She also has told us that she hopes to be able to sell to us after hearing Ricky's story. 

If Ricky had this car, he would be able to start looking for internships outside of College Station, find a higher paying job outside of the food industry, and would no longer have to resort to walking 2. 5 miles to work or rely on friends for rides.
