We the Interwoven: A Book in Every Library in Iowa

Tax deductible

WE THE INTERWOVEN is the first book of stories from immigrants and bicultural residents living in Iowa. It is a deep and diverse look at the experiences of people who come for a new life and of their children who grow up as third culture kids.  The majority of Iowans will only have a chance to read this book if it is found in their local library. Our goal is to get a copy of We the Interwoven all 544 public libraries across Iowa.

MORE ABOUT THE BOOK:

WE THE INTERWOVEN is the first collection of stories by immigrants and bicultural residents living in Iowa.

Written by: Chuy Renteria, Mexican-American, of West Liberty; Sadagat Aliyeva, Azerbaijani-American, of Des Moines; & Melissa Palma, Filipino-American, of Waterloo. Edited by: Andrea Wilson.

The writing and publishing of this book was made possible by the Iowa Writers' House  and their ground-breaking program,  the Bicultural Iowa Writers' Fellowship, which provides writing training and support to immigrant and bicultural writers. The training and publishing program was supported by a grant from the Iowa Arts Council which requires a community donation match.

Released in June 2018 and it’s first printing of 500 sold out in two months. People young and old are reading this book and finding new perspective. However the majority of Iowans will only have a chance to read this book if it is found in their local library.

Your donations will help send the finished book across our state, to towns large and small, rural and urban, diverse and everything between. Ultimately it will ensure the future of the Bicultural Iowa Writers' Fellowship.
