Yellow Ladybugs is a parent/volunteer run incorporated organisation. Since its humble beginnings in May 2015, it has captured many families hearts, as it has strived to help autistic girls connect, fave fun and make friends.
Since then, it has evolved to include advocacy, in line with a strong focus on shining a positive light on girls and women with autism,, including celerating strenghts and achievements. With this in mind, Yellow Ladybugs understands many girls and women are missing out on the support they need, due to being mis-diagnosed, misunderstood or missed completeley. The Yellow Ladybugs advocacy work will include lobbying the government for support and changes, to educate the medical, professional and general community about how girls present, so we can minimise these issues.
To make this a sustainable program, we need funding from the government, however, with so many worthy programs, we are also realistic, and calling on the public, and the Yellow Ladybugs community to assist.
All our staff are unpaid, but we do have costs, including: insurance, incorporated registration fees. We also try to keep our events to a cost-only price for our families, so we like to purchase little extras like balloons, or cupcakes. We also want to print off brochures, so we can share with schools and kindergardens. Lastly, if possible, we would love to rent a premises, so we can work from it, and use if for our Yellow Ladybugs HQ, which will help us host events, seminars and everything girls, women and autism,
