Helping Hands For The Wrodas
Those that know us know that we very rarely ask for help, but often offer it. We have always taken pride in being able to handle whatever situation has come our way. This time though we know we can not, and with great humility ask for the help of those around us. In March of last year we discovered that Lisa was pregnant with our third baby boy. Early on we learned that Keegan was going to be special, but little did we know how special. He was diagnosed with Thrombocytopenia Absent Radius (TAR) Syndrome, a very rare disease that effects his plattlett levels and causes a malformation in both of his arms. Shortly after finding out she was pregnant, Lisa was admitted to the hospital with a serious heart problem. She was diagnosed with a heart valve condition and spent a long time in the hospital. After Keegan was born in April, both Lisa and Keegan had a long stay in the Heart ICU and NICU respectively.
Keegan's condition requires constant visits to multiple hospitals throughout Chicago, many different doctors and frequent trips to the ER. Lisa's heart condition and related health conditions require frequent doctors appointments and required that she leave the job she had for one that provides less pay, very few hours and requires the family to spend more on insurance related needs. Adam has had to take a large amount of time from work which isn't fully covered by his benefits.
All funds will be used to help keep up with current bills and medical issues. Due to Lisa not being able to do the work she was before, this has now become priority and Adam's ability to catch up has been severely hindered. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts for anything you can do to assist in our time of need.
Anyone wishing to visit with her I ask that you contact me first. It will be a long road to complete recovery and there will be many doctors trips in the near future.
Thank you again to everyone who has shown their love and support. Your love has made a world of difference to her and our family.
At 5:30 A.M Lisa will undergo open heart surgery. I will update everyone with her status when I am able.
After surgery she will have about a week stay in the hospital to make sure everything is good. I will be stayimg with her as much as possible.
Please keep her and our family in your prayers.
Thank you to everyone who has been so generous. While we still have a long rough road ahead of us, your continued support is helping our family immensely.
I will have to take a good amount of time off of work to be there for Lisa and my family.
Any help, no matter how small, is greatly appreciated and much needed.
Less than one week until Lisa undergoes her open heart surgery.
She is having a dual Heart Catheter done today in preparation for her surgery on the 23rd. She's very nervous about it, as anyone who has had one can tell you, they are fairly painful.
I have made arrangements at work to be off during the first week and half, but can not afford to take any more time than that. She has had her good days and bad recently, and I have been there as much as possible .
Luckily she has been able to get out of the house a few days within the last few weeks and be around friends (Thank you immensely to those people, you have been around her and you know who you are).
Please keep her and our family in mind during this time.
It will be a long and slow process until she is well enough to return to work, and Unum isnt making it any easier by constantly delaying and denying her disability claim.
On a positive note, Keegan is doing very well. We got his platelet count back yesterday and he is pretty stable at 65,000. He has been stabelizing very well since his last transfusion.
We were looking foreward to starting Keegans therapy sessions (once a week) through Easter Seals, but between me working as much as I can and Lisa's heart problems we havent been able to have appointments as much as we would like. After Lisa recovers we will hopefully have him going with everyone of his appointments.
Thank you again to everyone for every thing you have and continue to do.
