Weston was born on December 21, 2013 with a rare heart defect. Our little superhero had his first open heart surgery at thirteen days old. We spent the first month of his life in the hospital, which included Christmas and New years. Weston had his second open heart surgery on April 16, 2014. He did great and got discharged from the hospital after only 6 days! Which was amazing, but then we had to stay in a hotel for a week before we could go all the way home :( Weston is such a strong little boy. He amazes his father and I daily! He is the joy of our life!
Weston has been doing very well since his second surgery. Our last cardiologist appointment went amazing and his Echo and EKG look great! We are feeling very relieved to have his O2 stats back in the high 80's. Before the second surgery they had dropped into the 60's. This was not only bad for him physically, but also for his brain. We are so greatful to say that Weston is a smart little boy that hasn't seemed to be developmently affected by the low stats.
We pray that he will make it to the end of the year with this temporary fix. As long as his O2 levels stay in range we won't have another open heart surgery until he is about one year old. This is a major open heart surgery, not to say they all aren't major, however doctors will go in and reverse the blood flow in Weston's Heart, do to the fact that he has Ventircular Inversion. They will also have to put in an artificial pulmonary arterty and valve. There is a hole between his two chambers that will have to be closed. This is a long tedious procedure that will take hours to perform. We pray to the Good Lord that our doctors will have a steady hand and the skill he needs to get the job done.
We already have a stack of bills a mile high, and no end in sight. Between the hospital bills, doctor appointments, the two hour drives to Houston, hotel stays, and everything else we are barely staying a float. Any help would be a true blessing!
