We Love Michelle - Cancer Sucks

Donation protected

This page is for Michelle Broussard. Michelle is the kindest, sweetest, most giving person I've ever met in my life. She would literally give you her last dollar if you just asked (and I can attest to this fact, because she HAS given me her last dollar)! She has a wonderful husband and three sons. Two of the boys are in college and one is still in high school but all of them live at home.
For many years Michelle has battled symptoms from a central nervous system disease. It often causes her a lot of pain and leaves her exhausted at the end of the day. This disease would have been enough for her to go on permanent disability, but she chose not to. She loves to work, to help provide for her family, and to feel like she has accomplished something every day.
A couple of weeks before Christmas, Michelle found herself short of breath and feeling much more exhausted than usual. She went to the ER and they found fluid in her lung. They were able to drain some of the fluid and they sent her home. A few days later, her symptoms had gotten worse and she was admitted into the hospital. After many days of tests and scans, they found masses in her chest cavity; it was cancer. Michelle and her family had to celebrate Christmas in the hospital. She was finally released on December 29th.
After several more appointments and tests the doctors determined that her cancer was Stage IV Melanoma. It's incurable and cannot be surgically removed. She's undergoing treatment with the hope that the masses will not grow and POSSIBLY could shrink a little.
Unfortunately, Michelle is unable to work at this time. The masses in her chest cavity are pushing against her lungs and making it difficult for her to breathe. She also has a lot of pain and is mostly confined to her bed. During this time, Michelle will receive NYS disability, which amounts to $170 per week. We all know that this is impossible to live on.
Michelle and her family are blessed to have good health insurance that is covering most of the costs of her treatment. But they are definitely going to need help paying their bills. With three boys at home and a mortgage, car payments, etc. it's going to be incredibly difficult to get by on one salary.
I know money is tight for everyone, but I'm asking you to please give what you can to a very deserving family that has been dealt a heartbreaking blow.
