Kevin Stevenson's Record "Exarchia"

Kevin Stevenson is a musician from Lowell, MA. He's been playing guitar and writing songs since age four. He's been in great bands for all of his adult life. He was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis at the age of 30. He spent almost a year in Athens Greece in a borough called Exarchia, and as Kevin says, "It was the best medicine for me. The climate was wonderful for my MS." He wrote alot of songs while in Greece, and came back feeling better than he's felt in twenty years. Here's his story:

Kevin Stevenson has been a band leader since the age of eight. He was teaching his friends how to play the Bass and Drums. If you look at the photo above, that was the year of his first band. His first song was written by age five, and he's never stopped. When asked why, Kevin said, "Why should I stop? I'm really good at this, and really bad at everything else!"

When Kevin was in High School he started a band with new friend Roy Costa with whom, by the way, Kevin played for eleven years. Roy played with Kevin in Formicide, Only Living Witness, and the Shods.

They started Formicide, and recruited Kevin's brother Eric on drums, and right after graduation, they were selling out the Channel in Boston with their friends Wargasm. Exciting stuff! He also started playing with Scott Pittman in the band Duck Duck, a highly eclectic band that could go from Jazz, to Reggae, to Country, to Blues, to Hardcore, all in the fist ten minutes of their show, and it was all their own music. A great training ground for any serious musician.

Kevin called his brother Eric (who, as Kevin is known to say, was the best drummer that he's ever played with, better than anybody by far), and asked him if he had Blind Surgeon's singer Johna Jenkin's phone number, and they started Only Living Witness, a band later signed to Century Media Records. That was a very important band to a lot of people.

When Kevin left that band, he started the legendary band The Shods, with Scott Pittman and Roy Costa. That band hit Boston like a bomb going off. Boom! They have arrived. All the other bands suddenly had to step up their game. That's the truth.

The Shods released five full-length albums, an EP, and two seven-inches, one of which was a split with the DuckyBoys. Every thing was looking good for The Shods. They had a great team behind them. Amy Bennett was The Shods' and the Mighty Mighty Bosstones' manager. Richard Grable, attorney to the stars, was their lawyer. Adam Goldberg, an incredibly accomplished music accountant, became their accountant. Everything was looking great for The Shods when out of the blue came a shock. Kevin was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis, and the band went into hiatus, but anyone who knows Kevin knows that he is a fighter, and would never let Multiple Sclerosis get the better of him. And he hasn't. After living in Exarchia, Greece, for eight months, he's back and feeling better than he's felt in a long, long time. He has an album full of incredible songs, but needs your help to record, master, and release it. Kevin is a great guy, just ask anyone who has ever spoken to him, if you have then you know it too. Now Kevin needs your help. Please give whatever you can to this GoFundMe campaign.  Every little bit helps!
