I'm going to climb Ben Nevis then walk the full west highland way in 8 days from the 4th to the 11th of November 2017
I will be doing Ben Nevis accompanied & some of the last dat accompanied but the rest of the time will be solo.
I will be living out of a hammock for the complete trip. So as you can imagine November in Scotland isn't the warmest.
I am doing this to raise funds for St Andrews hospice which looked after my mum in her final days in 2005.
For 1st Bellshill & Mossend scout group where I am a leader & have been involved in for many many years.
For the Clydesdale food bank as they have helped me out personally in recent times & help countless families daily. This is a brief history from them-
The Clydesdale Food Bank started in early 2013 from some work in the Church of Scotland in Carluke and from the outset we decided to serve the whole of Clydesdale and not just Carluke. Also because the rural nature of much of the area we decided that all food packs would be delivered to our clients’ homes and this allows us to give packs designed to last for up to 2 weeks.
We have no public funding but we are generously supported by churches of all denominations across the whole of Clydesdale but also members of the public, businesses, clubs, uniformed youth organisations and schools.
The demand for our service is growing all the time.
Up to this morning we have had 404 referrals so far this year. Much of the increase just now is fuelled by the move to Universal credit with people having to wait 6 weeks for their first payment.
Also for The Samaritans as I have used their services during my mental health problems.
I would be grateful if you could donate whatever you can. The money will be split between the four charity's equally.
