Help Us Get Two Robotics Teams to VEX World Championship!
I am the advisor to Walsh Middle School Robotics Club, known as the WalshBots. I have the privilege of being surrounded by very talented middle school students who are developing critical thinking, engineering, leadership, and teamwork skills by participating in VEX Robotics Competitions in the region. We have seven active competition teams and this year two teams, 9791C C-cret Agentz and 9791H Hangman, have qualified for VEX World Championships in Louisville, KY April 19-23. Your generous tax deductible* donation will help make it happen.

Getting 14 students and three staff members to this prestigeous event where over 800 teams from 35 countries will be competiting requires more financial resources than we have available to us. These students meet three times a week for three hours a week all year long. The results have been outstanding, with the teams earning 13 judged and performance awards at six regional competitions, including the most coveted Excellence Award and two teams on the Tournament Champions alliance at the Southern New England Middle School Regional Championships.

This year the VEX Robotics game is called Starstruck.  It is a 2v2 game played on a 12'x12' field that is divided in two by a fence.  Two robot alliances compete to see who can score the most points in a two minute match.  The object of the game is to get as many objects onto the opponent's side of the field.  Bonus points are awarded to the team scores more points in a 15 second autonomous mode.  Additional points are scored by a robot selflifting on a vertical pole. 9791H's robot is capable of selflifting itself onto the pole.

The funds we raise will go to defray costs of participating at the event. Remaining funds to raise for the teams include:
- Registration fees for two teams $1,700
- Lodging for 14 students and 3 staff $7,000
- Transportation estimated at $3,300 and other miscellaneous equipment expenses relating to the trip.

You can donations directly to the club's effort without incurring fees (gofundme.com 5% + 3% credit card processing), and potentially a tax deduction opportunity*, by sending checks payable to "Walsh PTO" and "Robotics" in the memo to:
