WORKING IN MEMPHIS: The Documentary
The state of Tennessee makes in excess of &1.5 bilion every year in tourist revenue. Try as one might, it is all but impossible to find statistics accurately detaling the contribution of greater Memphis (inluding, but not limited to, Beale Street clubs and venues, Sun Studios, Stax and its various commuity initiatives, Royal Studios, Gibson Guitars, The Rock&Soul Museum, Graceland, et al.) to this gross profit figure for the state of Tennessee.
Here in the 90,1 what we *do* know for sure is that, DESPITE THE BILLIONS OF MUSIC INDUSTRY TOURISM DOLLARS GENERATED, there are literally scores of musicians who work almost every night to keep the "legend" of Memphis music alive, and who are *barely* making a living.
This short documentary film, *WORKING IN MEMPHIS,* only begins to tell the behind-the-scenes story of working Memphis musicians' lives on Beale Street.
We would like to convert this into a feature-length documentary film, but that requires your financial help . Please consider donating-- NO AMOUNT IS TOO SMALL-- to this project.
