Women’s March Michigan is organizing an Anniversary Event to channel the engagement and activism of our community into a collaborative event for teaching, learning, and mobilizing. The name of our events across Michigan are called “Women's March 2019: Women's Wave.”
Women's March 2019: Women's Wave will bring thousands of women and femmes of all backgrounds to Detroit, Michigan on Saturday, January 19, 2019, for a day of inspiring, intersectional movement building and actions for attendees to take away with. This event will continue what we started on January 21, 2017, what we saw happen at the Women’s Convention in Detroit and will bring together first-time activists and movement leaders, rising stars that reflect our nation’s changing demographics, and thousands of women who have organized sister marches, huddles, rallies and resistance actions-- large and small-- since January 2017. The Women's Wave is an opportunity to meet other women who are breaking down barriers and changing the face of America-- and engage with voters invested in substantial, progressive change.
With over 6,400 attendees RSVPed "Interested" or "Going" already, we are raising money to provide a fantastic event for the community and activists on January 19, 2019. Our goal is $18,000 for the Detroit event, as we are expecting a tremendous turnout. Last year we paid $480 for EMS, $341 for ASL interpreters, and $2,768 for portable toilets and delivery. We paid $3,655 for Insurance. We also paid for sound, city costs, volunteer vests, tents, tables, chairs for people with limited mobility, podium, workers, electrical hookup, extra trash cans, and more.
In addition to our Detroit event, we are trying to raise money to support permits, insurance and more at several events throughout Michigan!
We need help raising this money to make all of these events successful.
